Copyediting

Copyediting can occur once the development of the chapters or novel is complete. After submitting a sample chapter, the Editor and the Author will decide upon the necessary level of copyediting.

Levels of copyediting:

  • Light copyediting includes: ensuring consistency of capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and formatting; correcting indisputable grammar errors; pointing out convoluted paragraphs; and querying egregious factual inconsistencies.

  • Medium copyediting includes: ensuring consistency of capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and formatting; correcting all grammar errors; pointing out wordy or convoluted paragraphs and suggesting revisions; and querying factual inconsistencies.

  • Heavy copyediting includes: ensuring consistency of capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and formatting; correcting all grammar errors; rewriting wordy or convoluted paragraphs; and verifying and revising factual inconsistencies.

All copyediting includes:

  • Two passes through the chapters/novel

  • Creation of or update to the style sheet.
